Arthur have partnered with a global leading Reinsurer to hire a Junior Catastrophe Modeller to join their London team.
In this role, you will have be a part of the International Modelling team, in which you will provide analysis and expertise to global underwriting offices and develop catastrophic peril related projects to help manage risk. You will be working closely within a small team on a number of different lines of business, as well as having the opportunity to travel globally.
Your responsibilities will include:
Analyse and format data for catastrophe excess
Provide expertise in catastrophe modelling, data quality, and pricing for property catastrophe and reinsurance business lines.
Liaise with the underwriting department to review and interpret modelling results, price reinsurance contracts, and provide additional analytics.
Coordinate with brokers and client companies to ensure clear understanding of data requirements and interpretation of modelling results.
Improve inputs and outputs of catastrophe modelling for reinsurance pricing and consult on the appropriate use of metrics for decision-making.
Lead efforts to enhance data quality within the team and in collaboration with clients/brokers, including conducting model studies and validating underlying science.
Assist other departments with ad-hoc projects, such as risk management, actuarial work, global property analysis, and post-event analysis.
The ideal candidate will:
Have knowledge of Catastrophe Modelling and Reinsurance
Have a Bachelors degree in Mathematics, Science or Earth Science
Good knowledge of SQL is required, other coding abilities such as R, Python, VBA, Power BI are an advantage
Excellent communication and presentation skills as well as a strong work ethic
