Arthur is delighted to have partnered with a highly-respected Lloyd’s Syndicate to introduce an expert and knowledgeable Contracts Wordings Manager. The company is in a period of growth. This is a newly created team, so you will have the rare opportunity to grow your own wordings team from scratch. The Wordings team will be covering property, terrorism, political violence, aviation and reinsurance. The ideal candidate will have experience in property and it will be an advantage if you have experience in other classes as well. The role is London based with the opportunity to work in their overseas offices during peak renewal periods, if required and to visit brokers and clients when necessary.
Your responsibilities include:
Review, draft and negotiate the content of contract wordings and related supporting documentation (inwards, outwards and internal) to ensure the terms clearly reflect the coverage being provided/purchased.
Embed minimum clause standards to enhance exposure management capabilities.
Provide high-level support across the group to ensure that the business’ written and cover purchased meets market requirements and is cognisant with the boundaries of the group’s risk appetite and strategy.
Develop, review and enhance Lancashire insurance products in collaboration with Underwriters, Business Group Leaders, Legal and various external and internal parties.
Communicate and disseminate information internally, interact with and solicit support from other areas of the business, particularly claims, legal, finance, compliance and operations.
Produce and publish internal guidance and prepare and deliver internal presentations, workshops and training sessions. Mentor and support junior underwriters on contract wording issues.
Participate in client, reinsurer and intermediary visits to maintain awareness of market trends and issues and to reach agreement as per company requirements.
They are looking for:
Someone that has a minimum of 10 years’ experience in contract wordings.
Experience and in depth knowledge of Property, would be an advantage if you have experience in other classes as well.
Strong analysis and critical thinking skills, ability to identify and analyse problems, identify & evaluating options, and deploy sound decision making.
High level of attention to detail.
Enthusiasm and willingness to challenge both internally and externally.
Ability to negotiate, influence and effectively disseminate knowledge and articulate opinion, whilst maintaining awareness of commercial environment.
Self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
Flexible approach to work with the capability to plan, prioritise and handle workload to ensure expectations of stakeholders are effectively managed during peak renewal periods.
