The role is part of a growing Operational Governance team focussed on driving strong governance across the business, the role has a particular focus on Product Governance, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory requirements.

Role responsibilities will include:   

  • Manage and guide processes and procedures relating to all areas of compliance in the business units, with a particular focus on product governance.
  • Educate and influence business verticals, enabling the business to understand the impacts of the regulatory requirements within the landscape of their specialism, particularly in relation to product governance.
  • Build an awareness of existing and emerging product lines across all business verticals.
  • Oversee the database of business class products, ensuring all required information is captured and adheres to regulatory standards.
  • Embed and monitor robust procedures within the business that safeguard the compliance agenda is considered when introducing or changing products.
  • Analyse and report timely risk exposure in the context of business unit products to the Head of Operational Governance and central Risk & Compliance function.
  • Work proactively with Compliance and Internal Audit on identified risks, appetite for risk and mitigating controls, particularly in the context of existing and new product lines. 
  • Drive consistency across the business, maintaining there is a common understanding of the importance of governance across all business processes. 

Competencies/Experience

  • Previous compliance/governance experience at a mid-level in an Insurance Broking organisation.
  • Deep understanding of FCA regulatory rules, including Product Governance and Consumer Duty
  • Proven ability to develop efficient workflow procedures in working with the business.
  • Personal presence to interface with senior management of other business units, Line 2 and 3 and other stakeholders
  • Proven ability to be flexible and adaptable to an ever-changing environment.
  • An understanding or of a working knowledge of Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio) or similar software applications.
  • Ability to be professional and tactful in educating on change, to listen, be influential and persuasive to achieve objectives.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally both verbally and in writing internally and with external parties.
  • Excellent ability to manage time, prioritise and ensure that deadlines are met and when under pressure without compromising quality.
  • Proven presentation skills in both preparation, delivery and in a number of formats.
  • Ability to demonstrate positive working relationships with key stakeholders.
