The details

A global insurer with both Lloyd’s and Company platforms are looking to hire an Underwriting Audit Manager, who will travel to the European offices once a year.

The business is taking a conservative approach to growth and only want to take on good quality risks to ensure that they grow profitably.

This is a key role to the business ensuring underwriting best practices are followed in line with the company's underwriting governance framework and underwriting philosophies.

Within your position, you will form close relationships with the Heads of business units, and you need to be confident in directing and consulting when necessary, whilst building a working partnership.

You will have 3 direct reports, being the escalation and referral point for the team.  The right person will have management experience whilst having the ability to be hands on in underwriting audit management.

Key responsibilities:

  • Carrying out audits across the business and managing and overseeing the self-audit processes
  • Presenting underwriting audit results to the Underwriting Committee, along with ensuring business Heads of are updated on reports
  • Ensuring all actions arising from audits are completed in agreed time-frames and providing monthly reporting on outstanding actions
  • Liaising with the risk function and sharing key issues that fall outside of the scope of the underwriting audit

Ideally you will have experience within a similar type of role with direct reports and my client is looking to speak to people with technical knowledge from either underwriting in a commercial line or an underwriting governance background.
